The Tony and Keith photographic workshop for both the northern and southern Oregon seacoast would not be complete without capturing some shots of one of the biggest and oldest industries in the Northwest: commercial fishing. Towns like Astoria, Garibaldi, Newport, Port Orford, and Brookings have large fleets with docks and shipyards to support them. The boats range in size from 20-foot inshore craft to 80+ foot blue water trawlers. When shooting these, the subject matter will vary all the way from big scenics to the actual gear on decks like nets, booms, and crab traps.
Often a challenging shot because of the way the fleet is often bunched up. During this workshop we'll cover how to capture the right angle, isolate your subject, and use post-production to enhance your final output.
Depending on the timing and weather conditions, we will stop once or twice to shoot these vessels and enjoy very fresh fish and chowder that is only hours old. Normally, on both of the Oregon workshops, we will have breakfast around 7 or 9 after our first early morning outing. Lunch will occur sometime between 11 and 2; dinner will be between 4 and 9, depending on weather conditions.
